Referral and Rebates
You do not need a referral from your general practitioner (GP) to make an appointment with us; however, if you are looking to access the Medicare rebates, you will need an appropriate referral.
Medicare Rebates—Chronic Disease Management (CDM)
Sphere Therapy provides services under Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan for eligible clients of up to 5 sessions per calendar year. A specific referral is required from a GP and parents need to present the referral letter at the time of the appointment. Please note our services do NOT BULK BILL for Medicare referrals. Medicare Rebates—Helping Children with Autism
Sphere Therapy provides early intervention services for children undergoing assessment or treatment for autism through the Medicare—Helping Children with Autism Program. Under the program, children under 15 years of age can be referred by their paediatrician or psychiatrist for a diagnosis/ assessment and up to 20 speech pathology treatment sessions. A referral letter signed and dated by the paediatrician or psychiatrist will suffice. Please note our services do NOT BULK BILL for Medicare referrals. A gap payment would be payable. National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)
Sphere Therapy is a registered provider with the National Disability Insurance Scheme. We provide Early Childhood Supports (under 7 years of age) and Therapeutic Supports (from 7 years of age) to NDIS eligible participants. Private Health Funds
Sphere Therapy has a HICAPS terminal installed at the clinic for families whose health fund provides coverage for speech pathology services. If you have this cover, you may be entitled to a rebate. You can process your private health fund claims on the spot and may only need to pay a gap.
